Simon Potter is raising money for East Kent Railway Trust
The first Class 205 DEMU, number 205001 (original number 1101) arrived at the EKR in early 2005 and ran in passenger service for a short while before being withdrawn in August 2005, due to mechanical difficulties.
Since then, several members of the EKR have dedicated considerable time and resources to restoring the bodywork and interior of the power car. However, we are in desperate need of additional funds to undertake the necessary mechanical repairs and restoration of the trailer car.
205001 was the first unit off the production line back in 1957 and is an important asset to our railway. We would love our members and passengers to be able to enjoy it once more. With your help we intend to start the engine for the first time in 7 years and complete the restoration before the end of the 2013 running season. Each person donating £50 or more will be invited to take part in the inaugural trip from Shepherdswell to Eythorne. Please give us your support!
