Emily Thompson is raising money for Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England
I’ve wanted to attempt the Dragons Back ultra since I started long distance running. The idea of running the length of wales across the mountains really appealed to me.
The Dragons Back is a 380km, 6-day ultra running journey through Wales from Conwy Castle to Cardiff Castle. It has a pretty high attrition rate so I’m under no illusions this will be tough.
I am fundraising for Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England (MRSDE) as I am a trainee dog handler with my English Shepherd dog, Névé.
MRSDE are currently fundraising to provide kit for the amazing volunteers who give up their time to hide for our dogs on training session.
Without these volunteers MRSDE wouldn’t be able to train these amazing dogs to find lost or missing people. By supporting this charity you will be helping us to train the dogs and handlers across the country.
It costs about £40,000 annually to train England’s search dogs and kit out the dogs and qualified handlers, and without fundraising this wouldn’t be possible.
Any penny you can donate is appreciated, even if you’re sceptical I’ll finish the race!
