Filipa's 5K Run

Our son Alex was diagnosed with autism, speech delay and also has sensory needs.

Alex was really struggling in a mainstream school, we had to make the difficult decision of moving him to a specialist school, it was difficult because we didn't know if we were making the right decision for Alex at the time

Alex started at Ash Lea School in September 2016.This time last year Alex couldn't hold a pen properly, now not only can he hold a pen properly he has started to write his name. We are really pleased with the progress he is making.

We are also really thankful to the staff at Ash Lea for all the help and support they give and continue to give Alex and for always going above and beyond.
Alex will continue to face challenges on a daily basis but with the help that he receives i know he is in good hands.

This is the reason why we want to help a wonderful school and charity and give back.

I would like to raise £200 for Friends of Ash Lea School (FOALS) by running 5K at the Nottingham 5K summer series Race 1 on 17th May 2017. I am not a runner so this will be a big challenge for me!

FOALS is an amazing charity that provide a calendar of either subsidised or free social activities and events for children and parents/carers who attend Ash Lea School. They also fund equipment and resources for the school in order to enhance the children's education experience and the school facilities.

Ash Lea School is a day special school which caters for the educational needs of students (age range 3 to 19) that experience complex learning difficulties
