Mark is running the London Marathon

I am a keen runner and have run several half marathons and taken part in Tough Guy events in the last couple of years mainly for my personal fitness and enjoyment.

This year I have got a place in the London Marathon, it's the biggest event I have ever entered and I am excited about taking part in such a prestigious event.

I also thought it would be a good idea to put all my running efforts to a worthwhile cause so I have decided to raise money for my mum's charity Folkestone, Hythe and District Mencap. They offer a range of activities to over 200 members ranging from day trips, holidays, social events and three regular clubs in Folkestone and the Lydd area. It cost over £10,000 each year to run these activities plus the dedicated time of volunteers and this all from donations.

My mum Carol Godden and her friends Sue and Lesley have been trustees for 14 years and tirelessly fundraise, but each year it gets more difficult for them to raise money and some activities will be at risk if future funding is not secured. So I have decided to do my bit and run 26.2 miles.
