Footsteps For Futures - Sarah, Jay and Sanjay - Macclesfield RESULTS

Event date: 8th September 2014

Sanjay Vaja is raising money for Results Uk

My story

Hello, and thanks from Sarah, Jay and Sanjay for visiting our fundraising page...

From the 8th September - 12th September 2014, we will be joining the RESULTS UK 'Footsteps for Futures' challenge and walking to/from work/school in solidarity with children and young people from around the world who face a daily struggle to get to school.

We are going to put ourselves in the shoes of children - such as the ones below from Uganda - and take part in the challenge for 5 days, come what may. By the end of the week, we will have walked over 35 miles, adding many hours to our week. Sarah will be walking home from school every day - eating into her free time and study time. Jay will have to find time to walk over 5 miles each day too.

All around the world, children struggle to get to school. For example, we heard a story about two deaf children in Uganda who have to walk 10 miles each day to their nearest school... and 10 miles home again. Through fierce sun and relentless rain. The walk is so exhausting, they can only go three times a week because they needed to recover. And yet they continue to go - as they know how vital it is to their future. Others have to swim across rivers to get to school.

We have no idea how tough this is going to be... guess the UK weather will play its part too! But if we expect young children around the world to do it, then surely we should be able to give it a go and raise awareness as well as funds for a great charity!

We would very much appreciate it if you could donate any amount you feel you can afford to help RESULTS UK campaign to end poverty and hunger, especially their campaign for quality education for every child. We've worked with RESULTS UK for a while now and know what an effective organisation they are.
