Alison Bonham is raising money for Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary
I have been a volunteer for 10 years at Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary, which provides lifetime help and care for horses, ponies, donkeys, goats, sheep and cats, that are victims of physical and mental abuse, be it as a result of ignorance or malicious intent.
Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary is funded totally by public donations and their own fundraising and event activities, so for my 10 year anniversary I have decided to do my first ever Triathlon at the grand age of ... well if you know, you know!
The Southend Triathlon takes place on 14th July, and I have been in serious training since April. The sea is now warm enough to do long swims without getting brain freeze!
The weather has not been kind this year, and Remus have already had to cancel one Open Day (only six can be held each year), and they are the main source of income, so I am hoping to raise as much money as possible to help fill the deficit. Times are tough, the smallest amount helps, but even sharing this page helps.

What an incredible experience taking part in the Southend Triathlon this morning. Thank you to everyone for your support and donations to Remus Horse Sanctuary, I'm blown away by your kindness. All the training paid off, and I completed the course in 1 hr, 50 mins, 49 secs, coming 3rd in my female age group. Thank you so much again 🥰

Final training session has been done this morning (Friday), tomorrow is a day off, then Sunday is the day!
I wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated. Taking part for an amazing charity, Remus Horse Sanctuary, and all the donations, has kept me motivated throughout all the training (4 months' worth) in all weathers. Next stop is the triathlon site at 5am on Sunday 🐴🫏🐐🐑🐈⬛🐾 xx
Second triathlon update 🏊🏻♀️🚴♀️🏃♀️
Since my last update, I've clocked up 69k (43 miles) on the bike and 35k (22 miles) running, plus lots of sea swimming practice in a wetsuit. Taking it off in transition to the cycling is definitely an artform!

Triathlon training is going well 🚴♀️🏃🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️ Last week I cycled 67k, ran 18k, sea swam a lot, and it starts again this morning, with the triathlon in 3 week's time. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated/sponsored me so far, it really spurs me on knowing it will help all the Remus animals 🐴🫏🐐🐑🐈⬛🐾 xx
