My story

Well here I am again trying to raise money for charity but this time I am taking on 2 exhausting events. The training is relentless!

Together with The Birmingham Irish Cycle Appeal in July I will be cycling 700 miles (1100km) covering the East Coast of Ireland. The 7 day ride will start in the North at Giants Causeway and finish in the South in Cork.

Some 6 weeks later in September, myself and 3 amazing women will be taking on a half Iron Man Triathlon (also called a 70.3) This is a 1.2 mile/1900 mtr swim, 55 mile/90km bike ride followed by a half marathon.

ALL money raised will go directly to the following charities:

Matilda Baptiste - a local 16yr old girl living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Her family are fundraising to help buy equipment to maintain her independence.

The brain Tumor Charity - The charity is committed to saving and improving lives by research & providing support.

Heartlands Hospital Cystic Fibrosis - Ward 26 provides extensive care for adults with CF. It requires extensive refurbishment, the majority of which will be covered by charitable donations.

Sea Cadets - a local unit are fundraising to help replace the roof on their kitchen where they teach cadets how to cook.

UHCW Parkinson’s Research - a 3yr clinical trial initiative that aims to find a treatment that can slow or stop the progression of Parkinson’s disease.

Marie Curie Hospice Solihull - Provides specialist palliative care & support for individuals with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families and carers.

St Edward’s Trust - Provides specialist bereavement support.

St. Vincent De Paul - Anti Poverty Charity providing support to vulnerable people.

St. Giles Trust - Helps individuals facing
significant social challenges - including poverty, homelessness, addiction,
mental health issues, and involvement in the criminal justice system.

On a personal note: I cannot thank the Sea Cadets enough for their amazing adventures they provided to my son when he was a teenager! His kayaking abilities are fabulous and at 25 he continues his kayaking passion.

Sadly, my step dad has Parkinson’s and I see how it affects not only my step dad’s life but also my mum’s too. To think that there is research to help stem or stop the disease is amazing.

We have a beautiful baby in our extended family who has Cystic Fibrosis who will need life long care. To be able to help and raise money to improve services for him is fantastic.
