Hills Road Sixth Form Students raising money for Social Action Week!

Event date: 7th June 2019

Eleanor Bogie is raising money for Cambridge Convoy Refugee Action Group

My story

We are a group of Hills Road Sixth Form Students who strongly believe CamCRAG is a worthwhile charity in need of fundraising. CamCRAG's Message is: they are a group of volunteers who live in and around Cambridge who work to help the refugees in Northern France and elsewhere in Europe. As well as sending regular convoys of aid and volunteers to the warehouse in Calais run by Help Refugees, we also organise donation collections, fundraising events and seek to raise awareness of the refugee crisis.
All the money we raise goes towards providing aid or supporting our convoys: We have no employees, and are entirely run by volunteers.
Which means we always welcome some help, whether it?s joining us on a convoy to Calais, donating money, or giving your time in Cambridge.
The 10 students gathering to raise money do not necessarily believe in the Calais Refugee Camps existence, or the politics surrounding refugees migrating to the UK. HOWEVER, we all strongly believe that, no matter whether the camp should exist, it does, and conditions there are poor and unjustifiable. We believe that every orphaned child in the camp deserves a childhood and security. These children did not chose this , and therefore, it seems only right to help them both there in the camps and here in Cambridge, in what ever way will help them to develop, be it, a poncho blanket in Calais or additional English lessons to allow them to adjust to schools better, and they are not the only vulnerable people in need here and abroad.
So we ask you for support, not to promote for or against the entrance of refugees into the UK, but to aid to improve what is already happening, whether it should or shouldn't be. The tragic fact is that it is happening, and we believe that the donations you make can make a huge difference to the individual in the current system.
Thank you so much!
