My story

All young people deserve the opportunity to realise their full potential. Despite living in one of the richest countries in the world, shockingly over 4 million children (3 in 10) live in poverty across the UK. It is statistically very difficult to break that cycle of poverty without proven targeted interventions that create opportunities to succeed.

I am taking on a highly ambitious challenge to cycle almost 400km over 3 days on the perilous mountainous roads of Sardinia along with the team at the Jason Robinson Foundation. Think hills, potholes, heat (as well as stunning scenery!).  None of this is made any easier as training halted as soon as it started due to a broken toe in May. Pleased to report training is now back on! Any donation (however large or small) would be hugely appreciated.

The Jason Robinson Foundation is a grassroots UK charity who aim to transform young people's lives who experience barriers to learning, opportunity, and employment, through the power of sport. Sports teach children concentration, time management, discipline, and many other skills. In fact, the Aspen Institute's Project Play Report reports that children who participate in sports score 40% higher in exams, are 15% more likely to go to university, and go on to receive 7-8% higher earnings than their peers.

The Jason Robinson Foundation's impact is measured in 4 ways:
1. Healthy habits and active lifestyles
2. Being positive and developing resilience
3. Making good choices
4. Being a positive role model for others

I'm not going to lie, this is going to be tough, especially starting out with an injury, but I'm aiming to be a positive role model for others by taking on this challenge.

THANK YOU so much for your support - it means a lot to me but more importantly will make a meaningful difference to the next generation,

Gemma

[Don’t forget that if your company offers a giving matching scheme (eg Benevity) please submit a matching request for an easy way to scale your support, and let me know if you have done so!]
