Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives
The Cooke E-Learning Foundation (E2) is a leading community-based social action charity in Beaumont Leys, Leicester. As the only charitable, non-faith-based organisation with the capacity to deliver area-wide projects, we design, develop, and implement impactful initiatives that tackle the challenges faced by our community.
Our Story
E2 began in 2005 as a small project at a local college, inspired by the vision of our Deputy Principal (now Treasurer and Trustee). Initially focused on refurbishing old computers for local families, the project quickly grew to address wider needs, including digital skills training and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).
Over the years, we’ve expanded our focus, evolving into a hub for education, youth development, and community empowerment. Today, under the leadership of our CEO, who holds a degree in Youth and Community Development, we are a trusted resource in Beaumont Leys and beyond. Our partnerships with over 25 schools, colleges, and universities reflect our commitment to education and collaboration.
Why Your Support Matters
Beaumont Leys is one of Leicester’s most disadvantaged communities, with some of the highest levels of deprivation and youth in receipt of free school meals. Your support allows us to continue delivering essential services and educational opportunities that create lasting change for individuals and families.
Here’s how we make a difference:
Food Bank for Families in Crisis
Every week, we support approximately 40 people through our food bank, ensuring they have access to essential supplies. We go beyond immediate aid by encouraging service users to engage with programs that help them break the cycle of poverty.
Community Education for Adults
From ESOL courses to accredited and non-accredited digital skills training, we empower adults with the tools they need to thrive in today’s digital world. Our partnerships, such as Moneywise Plus, extend our reach across Leicester and Leicestershire.
Youth Vocational Education
Through programs like EmpowerED, we provide accredited vocational education to young people aged 13-16 who are marginalised from mainstream schooling. Projects like Drop the Knife, Live Your Life tackle critical issues such as knife crime, providing positive pathways for youth.
Community Engagement & Social Activities
We run art sessions, youth clubs, after-school activities, and community events, reaching around 40 children and young people weekly. These initiatives build confidence, foster creativity, and create a sense of belonging.
Opportunities for Growth
Through volunteering, work placements, and apprenticeships, we nurture future leaders and give people the experience they need to succeed.
A Model for Sustainability
E2 is proud to operate with a sustainable funding model. Approximately 70% of our income comes from contracts for alternative education services delivered to schools and pupil referral units across Leicester and Leicestershire. This ensures our core costs are covered, while grant funding supports innovative projects addressing emerging community needs.
Our focus on reinvesting unrestricted funds enables us to continually enhance our services and build capacity. For example, our alternative education provision is recognised as one of the best in the region, with outstanding results and attendance figures.
By donating to E2, you’re not just supporting a charity – you’re investing in a brighter future for Beaumont Leys. Together, we can empower individuals, strengthen families, and transform our community.
