My story

Dear friends,
It's late I know but I'm thrilled (and a little nervous!) to share that I’ll be running the London Marathon this year in support of The Lord’s Taverners—a charity that uses cricket and sport to empower young people facing challenges like disability, inequality, and social exclusion.
Cricket has always held a special place in my heart, and this cause is deeply personal to me. My mum was a dedicated teacher for physically disabled children, and growing up, I saw firsthand how much joy, confidence, and independence inclusive education and activities can bring. Supporting Lord’s Taverners feels like a perfect way to honor both my love for the game and the incredible work my mum did.

But beyond the cause, this run is also personal. I have lost some incredible people to cancer over the years and I’ll be dedicating each section of the race to people who have shaped my life and given me strength which, no doubt will be needed on the day.

  • The first 10km, the easiest stretch, is for my late uncle.
  • The second 10km, which I call the “fun” part (we’ll see!), is for my late father-in-law. We had a lot of fun together and I will need his energy on the day
  • The third 10km, which I expect to be the toughest, is for my late dad - when I need him most to push through.
  • And the final leg, the push to the finish line, is for Katie—my incredible wife, who faced cancer and beat it,  and continues to show a kind of courage and perseverance I can only try to match on race day.

Every step I take is for them—and for the many young people The Lord’s Taverners support every day. I’d be so grateful if you could support me on this journey—whether by donating, cheering me on, or simply spreading the word.

Thank you so much for being part of this with me.
