You can do it! I’ll be waiting on the ground for you :)
Event date: 25th June 2023
Young At Heart is a charity very close to our hearts.
Our little granddaughter Miela-Rose was born in December 2019. She was having her baby checks done when the midwives weren’t happy with her oxygen levels.
She was rushed to neonatal and then later that evening transferred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Thats when she was diagnosed with a Rare heart condition called TAPVD (total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage). Then at just 13 days old she had her first open heart surgery and heart bypass surgery to try to repair her heart. During her recovery her lungs collapsed. The surgery had slightly worked but the surgeon wanted to better the procedure. He attempted to try through a catheter which failed due to scar tissue from the open heart surgery. Which then meant another open heart surgery was needed.
She then developed Sepsis, Pneumonia and Covid all at the same time which resulted in her being intubated as she was unable to breathe for herself. During this her lungs collapsed another 3 times.
During our visits to BCH we came across a charity called 'young at heart’.
They help to organise family trips out, events for families to get together with other CHD children and lots more. This gives the heart warrior children time to meet others with similar scars.
In doing this skydive i would like to help to raise as much money as possible to help this charity to continue to support families like ours.
