International Womens Day Yoga & LBT Fundraiser
Event date: 4th March 2023
Emma Daisy & Jane are raising money for St Albans and Hertsmere Women's Refuge
Our story
Lets come together this international Womens day to support an amazing local charity. We will practice 45 minutes of LBT (legs, bums & tums) followed by 45 mins of yoga with a tea break in the middle. The event will be held at Fleetville infant school, Saturday 4th March 10am-12pm. We suggest a donation of £20 but are very grateful for any donations made! Once you have made your donation please email Emma at emma@emmadaisyyoga.com to confirm that you will be joining this event.
St Albans and Hertsmere Women's Refuge provides a service to women and women with children who have or are experiencing domestic violence and abuse.
We work to help women and children overcome the devastating impact that the abuse has and support them in reclaiming their shattered lives.
Currently we provide accommodation, community and programme-based services to women, men and children in five districts in Hertfordshire. This includes the capacity to accommodate 26 families and up to 45 children deemed to be at the highest risk of harm. Our refuges are clean welcoming and homely; families are supported by dedicated qualified staff. Families stay with us for four months and within this time we address their immediate need for safety and support them to move on to safe alternative accommodation.
Children are often the hidden victims of domestic abuse and violence. 62% of children exposed to domestic abuse are also directly harmed. Our aim with every interaction we have with children is help them overcome the impact of the abuse they have suffered and witnessed. We provide play and opportunities for children to be children again.
Our community-based services include direct work with victims both male and female, ensuring they have the support and information they need to make the decision to leave an abusive relationship safely, working collaboratively with several agencies to ensure better outcomes for victims.
