My story

My Dad, Tony Dobson, has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). This has been a tough diagnosis for Dad and all the family but we are all together and ready to face this journey together.

As a keen rugby player/follower, MND is something I have been increasingly aware of through the awareness raised by Doddie Weir, Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield. Jacqueline and I have taken part in Doddie Aid each year but I now feel it is time for me to step up to an even greater challenge in the fight against MND.

So I have challenged myself to run 7 half marathons in 7 days.

Beginning on the 6th of October I will first run the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow. The remaining half-marathons will consist of routes between sailing clubs across Shetland and will aim to include some extra mileage to give a total distance of 100 miles for the week.

Before Dad received the MND diagnosis in March, earlier in the year he was also informed that he had prostate cancer. This is on top of living with Crohn’s disease for the past 35 years. Despite all this, he has never complained and so neither will I when running up a hill in the wind and rain. This challenge is not just about pushing my physical limits; it's about raising awareness and funds to support those affected by MND.

Thank you in advance for your support and any donation you can make. The money raised will be split between MND Scotland (50%), MND Association (30%), Crohn’s and Colitis UK (10%) and Prostate Cancer (10%).

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto MND Scotland, Motor Neurone Disease Association, Prostate Cancer UK and Crohn's and Colitis UK.

7in7 Completed!

What an incredible week - 7 half marathons in 7 days, with a bit extra thrown in to reach a total of 100 miles for the week. Thanks to all of my family and friends who have supported me throughout the week.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported and donated, helping to raise awareness and funds for some very special charities. The amount raised is beyond incredible, making the challenge worth every step!

My plan for the 7 in 7 is all set.

No matter the weather or headwinds, the route stays the same, but start times might shift due to any flight or ferry issues! 🛫⛴️

If you would like to join me on any of the runs, fee free to reach out!

Thanks for all of the support and donations!
