Wheatfields Hospice in Leeds has been a crucial lifeline for help support to those dealing with grief and bereavement. But now it is calling for our help as it faces its own battle for survival.
Hospices like Wheatfields rely on the generosity of others to help with crucial funding. With very little happening in the way of fund raising at the moment and with all their charity shops currently closed due to Covid-19 restrictions, this unfolding financial crisis now poses a real risk of having an impact on the Hospice's ability to treat the terminally ill. The hospice has a very special place in my heart as my Dad was cared for with such compassion there in the final days of his life. It is therefore simply unthinkable for me to think it may close. Wheatfields Hospice has running costs of over £10,500 per day and although I'd love to think that we could raise funds to that level, I know it's impossible for us to do so but, if we could raise some money to help buy the patients, staff and visitors some PPE during the current situation, that would be amazing. x
