Event date: 14th July 2018
We have been close friends for about eight years and like many, our families have been affected by cancer. So, on the 14th July 2018 (this event has been postponed due to bad weather conditions 4 times, it was originally supposed to be in October 2017), we are going to do a tandem skydive from 10,000 feet to raise money for Cancer Research UK!
Read our personal stories on why this skydive and your donation means so much to us below:
Katie:
On the 12th October 2012 my beloved Grandma died of pancreatic cancer within only a few weeks since diagnosis. We hoped to get the best possible treatment and care for her, but after only a few weeks spent in hospital, she sadly passed away very suddenly and since then, our family has been missing the caring, entertaining and most loving person that everyone knew. It has been a very tough few years, but finally I'm going to make her proud and help others with cancer.
Nicole:
14 years ago, on 14th March 2003 my family was faced with life changing news that my mum had cervical cancer. Not only was she facing the battle of cancer, she was also pregnant with my younger brother. The cancer was horribly invasive and progressive but she remained hopeful and cheerful until the end. I was only 4 years old when she passed away and my brother was only 1. It's been tough growing up without her, knowing she will miss everything my brother and I grow up to be. However, we have been fortunate enough to have a step-mum who has helped our family through thick and thin, and we couldn't be where we are today without her.
On the 14th March 2017, myself, Katie, and some of my closest friends went to Marlow Hill and lit lanterns which we let up into the sky in memory of everyone who has had cancer and the families who have struggled. Both of us also have permanent tattoos to remember these beautiful women by and they will never be forgotten.
Thank you for reading our stories :)
(A portion of the sponsorship raised may be used to pay for part or all
of my jump cost. A minimum of 50% of what is raised will go to my chosen charity.)
