Ken's Prudential Ride 100 Peloton Relay

Event date: 2nd August 2015

Natalie Brooks-Maskell is raising money for HOWARD GARDEN SOCIAL AND DAY CARE CENTRE

My story

On 2nd August 2015 I will be cycling the Prudential Ride London -Surrey 100 miles Peloton Relay. The Peloton Relay consists of a team of four riders, ours being Nigel, Dan, Dave and myself Ken to work together to ride the 100 mile challenge. The ride starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, the follows a 100 mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey's countryside. The route was made famous by the world's best cyclist at the London 2012 Olympics and finishes on the Mall in central London. Taking a cue from the London Marathon, amateur cyclists participate in the prudential Ride London-Surrey 100, on the same closed roads as the professionals with the added incentive of raising money for good causes.

Our team will be sponsoring Howard Garden Social and day care centre in Letchworth. The centre is a small independent charity and much loved centre that provides essential companionship and social support for elderly people in North Herts. The centre has been part of the local community for the past 60 years and provides hot meals for those who may not have them otherwise and a variety of social and physical activities. This in turn facilitates vital breaks for carers and peace of mind for families. The centre operates with a small team of staff and a wonderful team of 30 plus volunteers.

As a small charity with limited resources and funding, we rely heavily on the generosity of the local community we serve in order to continue to provide these services for elderly people and we hope that you can help.

The centre is a registered charity (219715) and with your help we are trying to raise £500. I work part time for the centre and really appreciate all your support and thank you, in anticipation, for any donations, big or small.

Best Regards
Ken Geggus, driver at Howard Garden Social and day care centre.
