Kessock Ferry Swim

Event date: 25th June 2022

Gail Cassap-Brown is raising money for Àban

My story

For the first time in over 50 years, the historic Kessock Ferry Swim will be happening again. This event will take place on Saturday 25 June 2022. This classic out and back route, between South and North Kessock, is a total distance of approximately 1200m.
I have been ‘wild’ swimming regularly since September last year but this will be the first time I have attempted such a stretch of exposed tidal water. Up until now most of my swimming has been in a local loch. Whilst the sea water will be slightly warmer – I think! – the challenge for me will be to do the distance in the time required (50 mins) as the tidal conditions necessitate this for safety reasons.
ÀBAN Outdoor, the organisers, combine learning, adventure and community for children and families in need. For more information about their work I invite you to see the tab below and visit Home - Àban (aban.scot)
Aban Outdoor’s 2022 Charity Partner is Friends of Merkinch Local Nature Reserve which will also benefit from donations raised by this swim.
This nature reserve is in an area of Inverness that is the eighth most deprived area in Scotland and the Charity aims to work with local people to improve their lives, mental and physical fitness; both by improving skills with volunteering and by being part of a community. They maintain the area with volunteers each week and offer activities such as guided birdwatching walks and a Junior Rangers programme.
I have visited this local nature reserve: it is a wee gem.
Whatever you feel you can give will be greatly appreciated both by me and the recipients of your donation. I thank you for your support.

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Àban.
