My story

I am running the Manchester Marathon on the 14th April 2024 and will be raising money for the Lost Little Ones Appeal. The Lost Little Ones Appeal, which launched in 2019 helped Mid Cheshire Hospital to provide the funds to create a dedicated suite and attached outside space on the labour ward at Leighton Hospital for parents suffering baby loss.

The Meadow Suite, which opened in September 2023, allows parents to stay together with their baby in a comfortable, non-clinical environment and provides an outside space where families can spend quiet time together away from the rest of the ward.

The suite has a bedroom with drop down double bed so that parents are able to stay together, a separate lounge and kitchen and most importantly a nursery room. It also has a separate entrance and exit and a dedicated parking space.

Arts Manager, Dr Deborah Riding, commissioned artist, Jac Seifert, to create special artwork for the suite with local families with lived experience of baby loss, which was also funded by MCH Charity.

Jac ran a series of workshops with bereaved families, providing them with the opportunity to use their experiences and ideas to co-create the designs with her. Some of the families involved had been at the heart of the project from its beginning, helping to raise funds when the Lost Little Ones appeal first launched.

Now that the suite is open, Mid Cheshire Hospital is continuing to raise funds which will be used to ensure that everything in the suite is in perfect condition for the families who use it.

Mid Cheshire Hospital are working with the Bereavement Midwife to develop new ideas which the fund will support and we also have plans to work with Jac on a second phase of the art project.
