Bomnong L'or Project and Cycle Ride

In July and August, I will be working for the charity, Orkidstudio on a construction project based in Cambodia, Sihanoukville.
The project aims to provide new classrooms, increased soap production space (one of the key enterprises there) plus creating shower and toilet facilities and also providing a source of clean running water for the charity Help the Cambodia Children.

This charity runs a goodwill centre in one of the poor slum communities of Sihanoukville, where most of the families live in simple houses and have no access to clean running water. The children in these slums must work from a young age to help support their families and so are unable to attend school.

The centre provides education for the children and a variety of evening classes for the adults. The charity recognises the importance of education to alleviate poverty and help transform the lives of the individual and community.

** On top of this, ** to raise awareness of the need for education in underdeveloped countries and to help the fundraising I will be cycling 120 miles (in one go!) from Uppingham School (attended for GCSE's) to Pocklington School (attended for A-levels).
The cycle ride will take place on the 14th June and take approximately 12 - 14 hours (depending on my fitness!)

Projects like these cannot happen without the help of kind donations from you.
All the money raised will go directly to the charity and help to bring education, hope and a better future to the children of Sihanoukville.
