Melanoma awareness

I am doing the 100 miles in May to hopefully make more people aware of how serious skin cancer can be.

How 6 weeks can change the rest of your life...

After being diagnosed with stage 3a melanoma last year, which means the cancer has spread to your lymph nodes (which is basically the pit stop of the motorway which travels round your body to spread the disease), this was a very scary time for me. They removed some of my lymph nodes in my armpit and found the cancer had only spread to the first two, so hopefully  it hadn't spread further round my body, which the scan confirmed which was a huge relief and great news 😊

Thankfully at present I'm cancer free, or as far as they can tell as there can always be a random cancer cell hiding somewhere, ready to pop back up and raise it's ugly head .
Thankfully I'm being monitored every 4 months for a mole check and every 6 months for an MRI and PET-CT scan for the next 5 years. So if it does come back hopefully it'll be caught in time!

Most think it's just a mole, but it can be a killer!

So just remember to check your moles and any new ones or changes go and get them looked at, as that decision could save your life!
