Merck, Irvine - November Food Drive

Join the 2023 Global Food Drive in Irvine!

Dear Irvine Colleagues,

As part of our commitment to Sustainability & Social Business Innovation and giving back to the communities in which we live and work, the 2023 Global Food Drive will kick off on November 1, 2023 and run until November 30. During this time, Merck employees from our sites around the world will make donations to local organizations that provide for food and basic needs to those in need. Globally, if each employee donates the equivalency of 22 meals, we will reach our worldwide Merck goal of 500,000 meals!

Here in Irvine, the Process Projects and Digitalisation (PPD) team will be accepting both food and financial donations to North Ayrshire Foodbank (northayrshire.foodbank.org.uk/) a nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure that no one has to face going hungry.

North Ayrshire Foodbank Mission:
“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Donations: For every £1.66 donated = 1 meal for the foodbank. Every 1kg donated is 1 meal.

Please place any food / product donations in the yellow storage bin in the Engineering Portakabin Office. (Old Customer Excellence Area / QC Canteen)

Specific Items needed; Tinned Custard, Tinned Rice Pudding, Tinned Carrots, and Tinned Peas.
For Christmas Homeless Hampers: Pringles, Shortbread, Small Boxes of chocolates, 2L bottles of Irn-Bru.

Toiletries - i.e. soap, shower gel
NOTE: No sanitary products are required (these are provided by North Ayrshire Council) and no nappies are required.
