Miles for Mum

On the 9th August this year, it will be ten years since we unexpectedly lost our mum, Janet.

To commemorate her passing, we have decided that we will be walking the entirety of the Sandstone Trail (34 miles) in one day to raise money!

As mum was a midwife who was very passionate about her job, we have decided that the fundraising will be in aid of the Mid Cheshire Hospital Charity. We have asked that the charity then specifically direct the proceeds to the Maternity Unit at Leighton hospital, as this is where mum worked. The money raised will allow the unit to buy things that improve the patient care and experience for babies and their families over and above what the NHS can provide. We know first hand how hard the midwives and staff at Leighton Maternity Unit work, and we know just how much the NHS needs additional funds.

We will be taking on this challenge on Saturday 2nd August.

In return, we’ll provide lots of updates on the day - neither of us have walked this distance before, we’re both pretty clumsy and we may not be on speaking terms by the 34th mile. Katie has already mapped out which pubs are en route too, so there is a 0% chance of her finishing the walk sober and a 100% chance of Beth losing her patience with her squiffy sister at some point… essentially, lots of entertainment is promised!
