My story
I used to run on and off in school but was never something I enjoyed, flashback to 2020, in lockdown, being able to go out for one hour of exercise a day. I downloaded Couch to 5K to help me find some routine and sanity - it helped turn my busy, anxious, brain off for half an hour a day just going out my front door with my headphones and I was hooked. Fast forward to now, a few 10K's and a half marathon later - I'm beyond grateful to be taking on the London Marathon in April, a bucket list moment for me, and to do before I turn 30 later in the year.
I am super grateful to be also be running not only for me, but for Lord Taverners and to help raise money for this amazing charity. Lord Taverners offer opportunities for young disabled people and those from deprived areas to engage in sport and recreational activities in their local communities! I think sport is so important for everyone not only for physical benefits but mentally too. Lord Taverners work across the UK and beyond to provide inclusive and impactful cricket programmes, empowering young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged communities to develop the knowledge, skills, capabilities and confidence required to overcome the challenges of inequality, raise their aspirations and reach their potential.
I am under no illusion this will be easy and I'd be lying if I said I was looking forward to a training block in Winter but the end goal of crossing that line whilst helping raise money for this amazing charity will carry me through, no doubt! Anything you can give will help massively and I'm beyond grateful for any support I receive through this journey! Wish me luck!
