Ben Chataway is raising money for Lejeune Clinic For Children with Down syndrome
13 October 1954 saw one of the great races in history: Chris Chataway v Vladimir Kuts in a 5000m Cold War face-off before a crowd of 40,000, with millions more watching on TV. My brothers and I have decided to mark the 70 year anniversary by running the Chester Marathon on Sunday, 6 October.
You might picture us as Matt "Kuts" Chataway ("probably training harder than anyone else in the history of running", according to Racing Past), Adam "Chris Chataway" Chataway ("gentleman runner who, despite his high ambitions, worked full-time") and Ben "Zatopek" Chataway (a bit past his prime and he wasn't really there, but I will be). Or however. But it will be an unmissable event - just like the real thing, which you can watch here.
I am fundraising for the LeJeune Clinic, a charity which provides excellent and much needed support for children with Down Syndrome and their families. Lily/Maria is a trustee. Have a look at this video montage of some recent clinic sessions to brighten your day! Please will you consider sponsoring me with a donation? Or better still - signing up to give some regular, monthly support.
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Lejeune Clinic For Children with Down syndrome.

It was a great day indeed!
Sadly, Matt "Kuts"'s intensive training regime got the better of him and he could not compete. But Adam "Chataway" Chataway put in a very gentlemanly performance, and Zatopek (aka “the Bouncing Czech”) managed a not-too-painful 3:37.
Here I am with a slightly premature celebration (only about 5 miles in).
More importantly, you helped me raise over £1,000 for the Lejeune Clinic, so ...
Please do remember the clinic if you come across anyone who you think they could help.
