New School for Run Mission Offinso

Run Mission School serves the impoverished community of Old Twumasan near Offinso.  Since 2010 the school has provided a free primary school and nursery - before that young children generally didn't go to school as they couldn't walk the 2-3 miles to the nearest state school.  Mothers, especially single mothers, have benefited from being able to work while their children are safely cared for.  The school provides a high quality and progressive education in spite of the dreadful condition of the buildings.  There are no proper windows and only one room has a door so there is nowhere to store any books or equipment which may be donated to the school.  All the desks and chairs have to be moved into one room at the end of the day and the roughly-made furniture is constantly breaking exposing long nails. The concrete floors are disintegrating into potholes and the rooms are always full of unhealthy cement dust.  For £15,000 we can rebuild the school, with the help of volunteer labour from the church,  to a good local standard on a nearby site, increasing capacity to six classrooms to meet demand.  Every little helps and the new school can be built in stages as funding permits.  If you are able to make a more substantial donation you can sponsor a classroom in the name of a special person for £2000 or even the toilet block for £400!
