John Dixon-Dawson is raising money for Northumbria Blood Bikes
Northumbria Blood Bikes is a charity supporting all NHS facilities in the North East. All drivers, riders, radio controllers and fundraisers are volunteers working from 7pm to 7am, 365 days a year delivering blood and all forms of medical samples and supplies to NHS facilities across the North East. The group also supplies blood to the Great North Air Ambulances on Teesside and Cumbria on a daily basis. The group covers an area from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north, to Darlington Memorial Hospital in the south, and as far west as Hexham General Hospital.
I have been a rider and driver for the group for six years and it is the most rewarding experience I have undertaken. The pandemic hit us all hard, not least in that all fundraising events were halted which significantly affected our ability to raise funds to continue our work. We survived through the help and generosity of a huge number of people and organisations which enabled us to continue our work at a particularly important time.
I'm riding in the 360 Challenge to raise funds for the charity. We will ride the boundary of our operating area (whatever the weather) and hopefully raise funds along the way. Please consider supporting my challenge and remember that one day we might have the ride of your life.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and for your support. Take care.
John

Thank you for the fantastic response so far. 100% of the funds you donate go to the charity to support our work. You may know that NBB also supplies the Cumbria and Teesside Air Ambulances every evening with fresh supplies of blood. In the last year it had over 1600 call outs supporting those who require critical care. Remember you do make a difference. Thank you.
