Pip's Mobility Scooter Sprint

Event dates: 17th July 2023 – 22nd July 2023

Pip Flegel & Dawn & Issy are raising money for Women's Royal Army Corps Association

Our story

Coventry to Guildford Mobility Scooter Sprint - 17 - 22 July 2023
I joined the WRAC when I was 17 and enjoyed every minute of my time serving.
As years progressed I've developed MS and find it difficult to walk so use my mobility scooter, and am registered partially sighted.
One day I was introduced to The WRAC Association. I am now in touch with old comrades and have made new friends, enjoyed reunions and fantastic get togethers which is all thanks to the Association, who look after Women Veterans with all kinds of health issues, mental health issues like PTSD and financial help as well as comradeship and friendship.
We are raising funds for the WRAC Association who support veterans like myself and many others.
So, in recognition of the benefits that my Service in the Army and the WRAC Association have brought into my life, I have come up with this challenge as my way of giving something back to the WRAC Association.
Fund-Raiser Challenge - I have decided to do a 'Mobility Scooter Sprint' from the point of me 'Taking the Queen's Shilling' in my home town of Coventry to where we did our basic military training at Queen Elizabeth Barracks, Guildford. As this is now a housing estate and Guildford Cathedral is the 'Home of the WRAC' this is now our 'End' destination.
We hope the journey will take 6 days starting on Monday 17 July and arriving at Guilford Cathedral on Saturday 22 July.
Our starting point will be Coventry Motor Museum (Monday 17 July at 10:00 hrs) and our end point will be Guildford Cathedral (Saturday 22 July approximately 14:00 hrs). We would love you to join us to see us off and receive us at the Guildford Cathedral, but due to police constraints, NOT during the challenge.
I will be supported by a back up crew of 4, all veterans, Frank, Jeff, Issy & Dawn, who will be helping me along the way.
I would like say a BIG Thank You to Green Pass Driving School which is run by Veterans, Lee & Rob, and Also MillerCare Mobility Specialists for their support and provision of extras' needed for keeping my scooter on the road.
