Denise Quinlan is raising money for Red Trouser Day
A rite of passage for any British cyclist. From the beautiful Land's End in Cornwall to the most northerly windswept part of the British mainland - John O'Groats in Scotland. Aka LeJoG, it's the traversal of the whole length of the island of Great Britain between two extremities; in the southwest and northeast. A galvanising 969 miles in just 9 days - 9th - 17th September - with note, no rest days - yikes ;0!
As a landmark birthday approaches next year, I'm raising funds for Red Trouser Day charity founded by my buddy Paul Finch, in association with the Royal Marsden Hospital. My Dad was fortunate enough to add another 7 years to his life as a direct result of the hospital's specialist and amazing post-radiation damage team. So it feels more than appropriate to be supporting them now. Major fundraising is something I do only every 10 years to not bore people senseless with demands for money :)! So thank you for helping to raise awareness of this disease's symptoms and funds for Red Trouser Day - a colorectal (bowel) cancer research charity.
Red Trouser Day's mission is to have fun raising awareness & monies to support The Royal Marsden Hospital in specific targeted research with an initial focus on:
Initial Blood Tests - helping the global leaders to create early detection methods. Presently it is very hard to detect colorectal cancer until it is quite advanced.
Help fund technological improvements including robotics in the operating theatre
Help kick start a fund to support anxiety and create support for patient communities.
For more information on Red Trouser Day or symptoms of colorectal cancer, do take a look here redtrouserday.giveasyoulive.co.uk and see Hayley's story below.
Thank you so much your donations and your moral support which will be very, and even more welcome as I embark on my own rather relatively insignificant and short journey across our fair British isle :)!
