Race Hub Swim for Debra

Event date: 2nd September 2023

Martin Sarsfield are raising money for DEBRA

Our story

Inspired by footballer Graeme Souness and the plight of Isla Grist and all the other children and young adults suffering from Epidermolysis Bullosa(EB) commonly know as Butterfly Skin condition, the Open Water Swimmers at Race Hub are raising funds and publicity to help all those sufferers search for a Life Free of Pain. On the 2nd of September 2023 we will take to the water at Race Hub near Melton Mowbray to collectively swim as many laps as possible. Our aim is to try and complete 350 laps which equates to a 4 way Channel Swim crossing and raise upwards of £3,000. We would love people to help us and support us in trying to find a cure for this terrible genetic condition.

Our updates

two days to go to our swim. We were delighted to receive Television Coverage on ITV Central News at the Race Hub Venue along with the Bates family and 14 month old Leo who suffers with this terrible condition. We are all set to go and have now calculated that 280 laps of the course will equate to crossing the English Channel 4 times. Thanks to all our sponsors who are helping us with raising money and awareness and good luck to all our swimmers taking part on Saturday.
