Rome’s 54 in 54

Bun_Cancer is raising money for The Ricky Casey Trust

My story

Please sponsor Rome as he does his 54 in 54 (18 push ups, 18 sit ups and 18 star jumps in 54 seconds) to raise money for the Ricky Casey trust who support those affected by renal medullary carcinoma (RMC).

Rome does this in honour of his dad, Chad, who was diagnosed with RMC in August 2019. After major surgery, multiple rounds of chemotherapy and only 54 weeks after diagnosis, Chad died in September 2020.

Not enough is known about this disease, it is considered a rare disease. That will hopefully change thanks to Nic Casey (Ricky Casey’s wife) who set up the Ricky Casey Trust. By supporting those affected but importantly to improve the education of health professionals and hopefully in time enable clinical trails to improve not only survival rates but ensure earlier recognition of symptoms as this is a cancer that is mostly diagnosed at stage 4.

Please donate what you can and share our story. Follow us on instagram @bun_cancer

Renal Medullary carcinoma is a kidney cancer that is strongly linked with the sickle cell trait. It is mostly seen in young black people. Symptoms can include, blood in urine, flank pain, and unexpected weight loss.
