Rosie Walsh is raising money for Alford House

My story

Welcome and thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

This year I will be completing the four major Three Peak challenges, in an effort raise money for the refurbishment of Alford House (alfordhouse.org.uk/).
This fantastic organisation does so much for the young people of Lambeth, and is currently going through a major regeneration project to better serve its community. I have a rough fundraising target but every little helps!
The proceeds will go directly to the refurbishment efforts, to be spent on renovating the break out spaces, roof repair and other major works.

I will be walking the following routes in order:
Welsh Three Peaks - Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan on 13th May
Yorkshire Three Peaks - Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough on 10th June
National Three Peaks - Snowdon, Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis on on 23rd September
Surrey Three Peaks - Box Hill, Holmebury Hill, Leith Hill on 4th November
(threepeakschallenge.uk/)

The club was very important to my late father, Andrew Welch, a former trustee, so I am also completing these walks in his memory. It will be a tribute to the time he completed these walks himself as a young man, and will fulfil a long-held personal ambition.

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Alford House.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and supported me behind the scenes. It has been such a privilege to see such beautiful parts of the UK throughout these challenges, and I cannot recommend these areas enough.
You have all been so generous in helping me reach my target, and this is going to a fantastic cause with Alford House.
All my love and thanks,
Rosie xxx

And finally rounding off with the Surrey 3 Peaks!
On Nov 4th I completed my final leg of the challenge by walking 23 miles and reaching the tops of Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill and Box Hill.
This took around 9 hours, beginning in not great conditions with a fair bit of rain, but things brightened up along the journey. We completed Box Hill around 6pm which did require head torches given the time of year, but we were treated to a lovely sunset coming back across the South Downs. All in all, a fantastic feeling to have finished :)

It's been a busy time and I have neglected to update this page in a timely manner!

Back in September I attempted the National 3 Peaks challenge, and it was certainly a test.
I summited Ben Nevis in about 6.5 hours which was fantastic, we had great conditions for the climb with spectacular views.
Moving onwards to Scafell Pike, unfortunately the weather did not hold and our group was unable to summit due to slow progress in the rain and 50mph winds. We were turned around about 100m from the peak, and descending in the pitch black at 2am, soaking wet and with a failed head-torch, resulted in a lot of slips and falls. This did feel like an incredibly dangerous part of the challenge and certainly one I won't repeat. My goal is to revisit Scafell in better conditions to fully tick this one off my list.
Due to a knee injury picked up on the 2nd peak, I was unable to attempt Snowdon this time, so my challenge ended unceremoniously in the car park.

An update to my wonderful sponsors - I have now completed the Welsh and Yorkshire 3 peak challenges.
Despite being far easier in terms of ascent, the Yorkshire 3 peaks proved to be tougher on me as the heat and pace of the 26 mile walk was relentless. I managed to complete it in 11hrs 36 mins, which I consider a big achievement given the conditions! Hopefully maintaining this should mean I remain fit enough to attempt the National in September.
Thank you again for your continued support!
