I did it!! Thank you to everyone who supported me, it meant the world to me. Feeling sore but very proud today!
Derek Livingstone is raising money for Up - The Adult Cerebral Palsy Movement
I'm running my first ever half marathon – and it's for a cause very close to my heart.
The furthest I’ve ever run before is the 5K at my local Parkrun… so the Royal Parks Half Marathon (21K!) is a big step up. But I’m doing it to raise money for UP – The Adult Cerebral Palsy Movement, a charity I’m proud to be a trustee of. It was founded by my wife Emma, who lives with cerebral palsy and works tirelessly to advocate for adults like her.
Through UP, we’re changing the conversation around cerebral palsy in adulthood – pushing for better services, support and visibility for the thousands of adults who are too often forgotten.
This is about more than just ticking off a personal challenge. It is a chance to get a bit fitter before I hit 50 and shift a couple of stone before I give in and succumb to Ozempic!
As Simon Pegg said in Run, Fat Boy, Run: "I guess sometimes you just have to do something stupid to prove you're not stupid."
So here I go. Please support me if you can – every pound helps us make a difference.

My training hit a big hurdle when I strained my hamstring 4 weeks ago doing a 15K run. Very frustrating but forced rest and physio has got me back to running. In the last week have done a 12k and a 13k run and hamstring feeling ok. So i am back on and gunning for the half marathon in just over 2 weeks! Got my running number today, so this is getting real ..
In to week 5 of my training including 2 X 10k runs and a 8 mile run. This week will be running 15km!!!
Week 1 done – I'm officially in training! I’ve just completed Week 1 of the Nike 12-week Half Marathon training plan. They say it is a marathon, not a sprint, and they are right!!
