Sigourneys Bungee Jump For Sands End

Event date: 2nd November 2014

Sigourney Merrony-Potton is raising money for Sands End Associated Projects In Action

My story

Sigourney will be taking the plunge on Sunday 2nd November to raise funds for Sands End Associated Projects In Action (SEAPIA),

SEAPIA is a local independent charity that has offered generations of families in the community of Sands End, Fulham a dedicated Adventure Play centre.

It will celebrate its 45th birthday July 2015. There are over 400 children on their current register and many of its staff and volunteers are ex children of the playground. There are ex members bringing their children and grandchildren to play there.

Over time SEAPIA has striven to continuously give children the opportunity to experience imaginative and creative quality play with their peers in a safe and secure, inner city environment. Through activities run on site and off site the children of Sands End, who may not otherwise have the opportunity, are able through play, explore and experience the wider world.

I attended the playground as a very young child along with my siblings after school and during holidays. We enjoyed camping holidays and got to try things out like climbing and horse riding which we could not afford to try as my mum is a single working parent on a low income.

My family has been involved with SEAPIA for nearly 28 years and we have all helped out and worked at the playground at one time or another. I did my work experience at their under 5's club and my sister and brother have both helped out on holiday schemes. SEAPIA helped us grow into the people we are today.

It is very much a local project for local children with an ethos that surrounds the whole family.

This is a cause that is very close to my heart and I hope that you will all give generously to enable this gem of a charity to continue their hard work for generations to come.
