Southey Guides Thinking Day Fundraiser for Waggs

The money you donate to this fund will be given to the World Association of Girl Guides & Scouts (WAGGS). The money is raised in honour of Thinking Day - February 22 - the birthday of our founders, Lord & Lady Baden Powell. The WAGGS association has chosen "empowering girls will change our world" as their theme for 2011. They will be focusing on "Gender Equility and Empowerment of Girls and Women". As such, they be using the money to support their efforts to 1. increase each girls sense of self through peer support and a place to belong 2. increase her confidence by helping her develop as a leader 3. increase her impact by teaching her effective advocacy, giving her a platform to speak from and encouraging her to take action on the issues that matter for her and those around her. They have chosen the following focuas countries: Bolivia, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nepal, & Yemen. One girl from each of these countries will be chosen to receive a scholarship to attend the Young Women's World Forum in March.
