Event date: 27th May 2012
Stephen Collins is raising money for HOSPITAL RADIO IPSWICH
On the 11th March 2012 - I will be running the Silverstone Half Marathon
&
On the 27th May 2012 - I will be swimming/cycling & running the Henley on Thames Sprint Triathlon
HRI is a great charity to support, if you are local to Ipswich - a charity that one day you may be pleased exists.
If you are not local to Ipswich, and quite possibly do not intend to have a stay in Ipswich Hospital, then perhaps you would be prepared to sponsor me a nominal amount anything from a few pence a mile to many hundreds of pounds!!
So - Hospital Radio Ipswich
HRI - broadcast a free to listen to service from within the hospital and is run entirely by unpaid volunteers so that patients can listen to music, news and information from their local hospital radio.
As part of the service, volunteers visit wards to spend time with patients who can make requests.
Matchday commentary is broadcast from Portman Road for Ipswich Towns home games, and there is now an internet stream so that long term patients, patients in hospice and family & friends of patients can stay in touch.
Hospital radio is there to aid the recovery of patients by offering a distraction to illness and to support patients that might not otherwise get visitors.
Finance.... The station receives no funding or financial help from any official body, has annual running costs of in the region of £10k and is in desperate need for new equipment to broadcast with.

For a smaller local charity - the amount we can raise can have a much larger impact and make a real difference. It doesn't need to be about big donations, if as many people as possible donate a small amount, I'll be chuffed!!
Thanks everyone,
Steve........................................................................
