Supporting Haregate Community Centre

I am taking part in the Haregate Community Centre " walk through August" challenge.

The Haregate Community Centre in Leek is a truly remarkable local hub, cherished for its welcoming atmosphere, excellent facilities, and wide-reaching support for local residents. With bright, clean halls, a well-sized kitchen, and ample parking, it’s ideal for community events—whether baby showers, children’s parties, or craft fairs—with visitors consistently praising the friendly and helpful staff.

 Beyond event hosting, the centre runs a Community Cupboard every Tuesday and Friday, offering fresh fruit, vegetables, and surplus supermarket items at low or no cost—helping to reduce food waste and support those facing financial difficulty, with all proceeds reinvested into local projects . Additionally, the centre coordinates holiday activity clubs for children (with free meals, crafts, games and sports) and weekly work clubs offering CV advice and job support for adults . In all these ways—nourishing bodies, supporting families and fostering personal development—the Haregate Centre lives up to its motto of being “run by the community, for the community.”
