Tabitha Ellen is raising money for Supporting Neonatal Users & Graduates (Snug) Limited
On the 6th February 2020 I attended my 12 week scan full of hope and excitement. It wasn’t long, however, before that excitement subsided and worry and fear filled the void. As a fit and healthy 30 year old I was never expecting there to be any complications with my pregnancy, but it wasn’t long before I noticed the concerned look on the nurse’s face. It was this moment that changed the course of my pregnancy.
For the long and worrying remaining months I was closely monitored by the incredible team at the RD&E hospital. My little Charlie was born at 34 weeks via c-section and weighed only 2lb 15oz - we knew he’d be tiny, but nothing prepares you for seeing your baby look so fragile. We spent a month on the NNU and during that time we were supported by the incredible team; their love and gentleness is definitely what got me through it all. Supporting SNUG, an independent charity, were (and still are) a lifeline and the work they do in supporting families like us is incredible.
Having a premature or sick baby is an experience which changes your life forever. And without charities such as SNUG those changes would be utterly overwhelming. SNUG is a charity worth its weight in gold and so I will be running the Plymouth Half to show them just how wonderful they truly are. Whatever you can give, no matter how small, will mean the absolute world to Charlie and I 💙
