This is a brilliant thing to do. We need more MRI scans too for diagnosis.

Tackling Dementia Step by Step (26 mile walk)
Event date:
Mandy Barker is raising money for Dementia Forward
My story
Dementia cases are currently at around 900,000 in the UK, and that is predicted to rise to 1.6 million by 2040. There is a huge social stigma about dementia, with negative stereotypes in the media, yet more and more younger people getting diagnosed. Although research is important; on the ground, local support is vital (socialising, community and staying active are crucial for people to live well with dementia).
Small charities such as Dementia Forward in Yorkshire provide on the ground, local support and community for those affected. They have been life changing for Mandy’s family and mum who was diagnosed with early onset vascular dementia at 66, which is why Mandy and partner Alice wanted to arrange a challenge to raise funds for the local charity, along with friends and family. We will be walking 26 miles along Cleveland Way on 27th April.
Any donations are appreciated and will go direct to support and changing people’s lives, rather than swallowed up in the cost of running national charities. Thank you for being part of the change.
Walkers will include: Mandy Barker, Alice Holliday, Rachel Kraft, Cobes and Hannah Birkbeck, Jo Coates, Dan Eland, Harriett Menter, Zoe Maylam, Jo Holliday, Laura McCartney, Jules Camillo, Lucy Horncastle, Liam Horncastle, Sophie Watkinson, Fay Howell, Nicky Sargeant
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Dementia Forward.
