Tim and Shelby Luckhurst are raising money for The Lord's Taverners
Not only is it exciting to be running the London Marathon but to have the chance for Shelby & I to do it together is incredible. I just hope Shelby doesn't go too quickly for her old Dad!
We are running the London Marathon to raise money for the Lord's Taverners.
2025 is going to be a unique year in that I will be coming to the end of my 5 year term as Chair of the Trustee Board of the Tav's but it's also the 75th anniversary of the charity. It just feels appropriate to do something really special for this amazing charity.
Some of you will have watched Freddie Flintoff's "Field of Dreams" on the BBC. If you haven't then I highly recommend you watch it on BBC iplayer. The reason I mention it is that the Lord's Taverners has been providing inclusive and impactful cricket programmes across the country for many years. These are a primary vehicle for change, empowering young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged backgrounds to develop the knowledge, skills, capabilities, and confidence to overcome the challenges of inequality, raise their aspirations, and reach their potential. There are many great stories illustrating the impact of what the Tav's achieves but here is just one about Sara, a truly inspiring young lady youtu.be/rTD_LdE_AX4
In the last year, over 30,000 young people have attended the free weekly cricket programmes the Tav's delivers across England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland. That's just an amazing impact they're having but what does that mean and how can you help?
Every £100 donated could allow seven participants to attend life changing sessions for a whole month, completely free.
Every £50 donated could cover venue hire for a week, and additionally allow one participant to attend inclusive cricket programmes for a month.
Every £15 could allow one participant to attend inclusive cricket programmes for a whole month.
We appreciate how difficult the current economic environment has been for a while but every little bit you feel able to donate to support us as we spend the winter training for the big day will spur us on even more.
Thank you for checking out our page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto The Lord's Taverners.
