My story
On the 12th July I will be attempting the Aquasphere Chillswim Ullswater 7.5 miles end to end event.
I have decided to take on this challenge to raise funds for the Mid Cheshire hospitals End of life appeal.
The fund helps patients and their loved ones who are at the end phase of their life, in hospital and at home.
The money would go towards comfort packs and sleeper chairs to enable families to remain with their loved ones in hospital, also to enable improvements to be made to hospital relatives rooms. There are also other small touches that the charity funds such as fingerprint making kits, hair lock bags and flower seed bags.
The appeal also helps patients and families of those who choose to remain at home, with numerous therapy services.
A little about me and this daunting challenge!
Ullswater is the second longest water in the lake district and also very deep at 63m / 207ft so even in July temperatures in the water only average between 10 - 16 degrees.
I am a slow and steady swimmer, In football terms I would be in the Sunday pub league rather than the premiership, as such i am expecting the swim to take me between 7 and 7 and a half hours, this will all be done without the aid of a wet-suit.
I have just started training in the pool and from March I will start training in Alderford lake and the lake district.
I will update you with my progress as the months go by, but any donation will be very much appreciated for this amazing cause.
