Our story
This March, the University of Birmingham Fencing Club is fundraising for The Change Foundation! Here at UoB, our aim is to make fencing accessible to every student, regardless of background, especially for those from vulnerable and marginalised groups who may not have had a chance to try fencing before. This is why we have decided to support The Change Foundation, who already partner with British Fencing to deliver Fencing 4 Change, a project we'd like stand behind as a university club as well.
To support our fundraising, we'll be running a charity mini-cup on Wednesday the 18th of March, at 3.30pm, which will be livestreamed on our Instagram, @uob_fencing! We have a couple of fun incentives we will do during this mini-cup, so if you want to see them, get donating! 👀
Our current incentives:
£25 - We will fence epee with priority
£50 - We will fence foil without priority
£75 - Sabre hits only count if they're made with bladework (parry ripostes and beat attacks only)
£100 - Trickshots are worth triple points (e.g., blind hits or cartwheel hits)
£125 - Mariia cartwheels across Slater
£150 - Theo gets water ballooned
£200 - Sophie downs a double Bell's whiskey (she hates whiskey)
£300 - Arran shaves his beard
£400 - Connor gets his chest waxed
£500 - Fergus jumps into the Vale lake
£750 - The men's team does a beer/shot mile
£1500 - Alex shaves his head
More to come 👀
