World's Hardest Ironman for The Island

Event date: 21st June 2015

Christian Bouet is raising money for The Island Mentoring Scheme

My story

On June 21st I will be at the start line of the Wasdale X triathlon - the world's hardest ironman. I will be doing this in support of The Island in York, a charity that provides much needed help and respite for vulnerable children aged 8 to 13. Please help me raise funds by donating.

About the event:
An Ironman is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a marathon run - one right after the other.

This might already sound like a fair bit of exercise, but Wasdale X is "the world's hardest ironman distance triathlon". This means the swim is in England's deepest and coldest lake, the bike goes up the steepest roads in Britain with up to 1/3 gradient, and the run goes up Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England.

In total that makes the 16,994 ft (5180m) gained during the event somewhere between Mont Blanc and Kilimanjaro. The swim starts at 3:30am, and I have to finish in less than 20 hours, by 11:30 pm.
