Merry Xmas Splash

This Christmas, instead of staying tucked up warm and dry under cosy blankets, I have decided to take part in Weymouth's annual charity swim organised by the Lions club (see: weymouthlionsclub.co.uk/events.php); a hasty but very merry splash into the cold, cold water of the harbour on Christmas morning, swimming from one side to the other. Hundreds of people take part each year raising money for different charities. Maybe it will snow this year? Who knows...

My donations will go to MARINElife, a UK-based charity who conduct on-going research and educational activities involving marine mammals and seabirds. Their off-shore survey work has helped develop our understanding of the distribution and occurance of all kinds of whales, dophins and birds around the UK coast and seas, including locally such as in Lyme Bay and the English Channel, as well as further afield on ferry routes across the North Sea, Irish Sea and down to the Bay of Biscay (more info see: marine-life.org.uk).
