About us

Narcolepsy UK's aims are to promote awareness of narcolepsy and its associated conditions, and to provide authoritive information about them. It provides practical advice and assistance to sufferers, families and their carers. It also supports research into its causes and treatment and encourages links with other narcolepsy associations worldwide.

At a grass roots level we run a helpline fielding enquiries about anything to do with narcolepsy and supporting those with a recent diagnosis, concerns or feelings of isolation. We assist with benefits claims for adults and children, we work with employers, schools and universities to help implement reasonable adjustments in line with The Equality Act 2010. If you have a question bout narcolepsy, we are here to help.

30 Walks in 30 Days

Why not kick-start the year by joining our 30 Walks in 30 Days Challenge for 2024, it is a great way of getting fit and helping others at the same time.

How to get involved?
We’re asking people to get involved by getting sponsored to commit to a daily walk, set your own distance or time, for 30 Days. It doesn’t matter whether you walk on the treadmill at the gym or round your local park; the challenge is just to do it every day for 30 days. You can walk on your own, with your spouse and children, with your friends, with the dog or even with the cat!

Keeping safe
While we’re keen to see as many people as possible doing the challenge, please make sure that you take care to walk in safe places and at safe times of the day. If you’re walking in the evening or at night, wear visible clothing. Ensure that you hydrate properly. This challenge is a personal challenge, not a competition, so there’s no need to go at it hammer and tongs!

Good for You
There are many health benefits associated with walking. Not only is a great way to keep fit, it also reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke. Being outside boosts your Vitamin D intake and exercise improves mood and so it helps reduce the effects of depression and it doesn’t cost anything to go out for a walk.

Cheat Days
We know that sometimes the demands of modern living spoil our plans so, if you are doing the whole 30 day challenge and need to miss a day’s walking, don’t worry that is fine.
