Charlottes Narcolepsy Support Walk ❤️

Charlotte is currently completing her silver Duke of Edinburgh award and as part of this award she needs to complete a series of physical activities to achieve this. 

Last year Charlotte was diagnosed with Type 1 Narcolepsy and Cataplexy along with other medical condition's. Charlotte faces daily challenges however she is determined to still try and be a normal teenager. She has been incredibly brave undergoing operations, procedures and tests and she still continues to do so with that massive smile on her face. We as parents are incredibly proud of her. We are still awaiting the outcome of tests she has recently had and she is also pending another operation. Our lives have changed completely and we are adapting each day to help her. 

Charlotte can find physical activity’s challenging as this can quite often bring on a cataplexy attack. Despite this she is determined to continue completing her award and in doing so we would like to raise money for an amazing charity who have provided us with a wealth of knowledge since her diagnosis and that is NARCOLEPSY UK!

Narcolepsy and cataplexy are very rare and we have found it very challenging to find ways to adapt Charlottes life. Narcolepsy UK have provided us with information which has helped enormously and due to it being so rare even Charlottes neuro team recommend they are our first point of contact. They provide a helpline which they always respond immediately and provide meet ups to share experiences and meet fellow suffers and also will fight your corner if you ever need them. They are amazing! 

Charlotte is planning to walk 5miles each day for the whole of August. While this might not seem a lot to some this would be a major achievement for Charlotte if she can complete this. She will of course be supervised due to her cataplexy and we will keep you updated each day.
