About us
The English Martyrs Catholic Church, Reading
Help us restore our historic organ at English Martyrs, Reading!
Could you donate to saving our historic parish organ? Built in 1855 by one of the finest British organ builders, George M. Holdich, it's now in need of some urgent restoration to make sure it can continue to enrich the parish’s liturgical celebrations with its splendid music and enhance singing at weekend Masses, funerals, weddings, and during the peak liturgical seasons of Christmas and Easter. The organ also plays an important role locally in training new organists.
The total cost of the restoration project will be around £85,000. The parish is committed to raising funds for at least 70 per cent of the cost locally and has already raised more than £23,000 through a range of exciting fundraising activities, with a plan in place to raise more. We are also working with the Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth to seek external grant funding.
Our plan is that the organ restoration will be completed in time for the 2026 centenary celebration of the dedication of the parish Church in 1926.
