Description:
Four Paws is an international animal welfare organisation who rescue distressed bears, lions and tigers, which have been kept in captivity in private collections, run down zoos and circuses across Europe, all who have suffered greatly. We rescue these animals and place them in one of our sanctuaries where they can recover and live out their days in a natural and appropriate environment. Sadly these animals can not be returned to the wild having not been taught the skills they need to survive.
When disaster strikes, we also make sure that animals are taken care of and not forgotten. Our disaster relief unit work with local partners in disaster zones to provide fast and efficient help for animals in distress. We have provided assistance during the Tsuanmi in Sri Lanka, the floods in India and Pakistan as well as during the drought in Kenya.
In addition Four Paws is a leading global force in campaigning for improved animal welfare for wild animals, farm animals, companion animals and laboratory animals. Our vision is a world where humans treat animals with respect, empathy and understanding.
Four Paws receives no government funding. It is only with the help of our kind donors and supporters that we are able to rescue distressed animals and provide safe and natural environments for them to live in for the rest of their lives.
