Founded in 1999, WISE THOUGHTS collaborates with global majority and LGBTQI+ artists, filmmakers, and practitioners to organise cross-arts events, such as GFEST – Gaywise FESTival, an annual LGBTQI+ cross-art festival.
Our work transcends local (Haringey and North London), regional (London and the South East), national, and international boundaries, depending on the nature of each creative project, focusing on creating living legacies.
We have presented a number of arts initiatives including : sHIVer (a multi-media performance project about South Asian Women and HIV), Flames (a multi-media project on sexual health of young BAME people in Hertfordshire), Un-tender Touch (exploring issues of domestic violence via the medium of dance), Sound of a Spell (a dance work presenting positive contributions of Islam), BollyQueens (a visual arts exhibition exploring South Asian drag identities), Against All Odds (South Asian dance performance by people with different abilities), Marg – a Pathway (visual arts and performance project presenting some gender fluid identities from Indian epic Mahabharata) etc.,The majority of our arts initiatives have been multimedia, visual arts, dance and performance projects. We have also produced and made 2 feature length films Yours Emotionally! and Interview with a Politician (trailer) on Indian (South Asian) and Gay themes.
Our wellness programs offer a diverse range of initiatives to actively engage community members in activities that enhance their well-being. These activities include yoga, mindfulness, meditation and LGBTQI+ drop-ins./ meet-ups.
We welcome new project commissions that address contemporary societal challenges.
