Team 2.5K 10CR 2013 - Huntington's Disease Association

Event date: 5th September 2013

Team 2.5K - Team B is raising money for Huntington's Disease Association

My story

This is one of two pages being used to raise funds by the team...

Team 2.5K include
Ellis Stokes, Keith Compton-Bishop, Darren Hartman - Triumph 2500 Mk1 /
Charlie Deards, Rob Bradley, Andy Elwell - Triumph 2500S Mk2 Estate /
Matt Roughton, Matt Sutton - Triumph Spitfire Mk2 /
Matt Barker, Chris Henry - Triumph Spitfire Mk4

Last year Club Triumph raised £65,000 for the Children with Cancer charity with 100 Triumph cars competing in their infamous 48 hour Round Britain Reliability Run bringing the total raised over the years to a whopping £750,000. This year continuing the charitable works 150 members
are setting out in 80 classic Triumph cars to attempt the grueling '10 Countries Run' - 2,500 miles through 10 countries in only 4 days. Not for the faint-hearted! (This is where you come in).
Charlie and Ellis completed this event 2 years ago raising an amazing £4,000 for charity and this year we have added two further cars and drivers to the Team 2.5K and hopefully, with your support we can raise even more money. As if driving the event wasn't enough of a challenge, Charlie and his crew decided to use a 1978 Triumph 2500 Mk2 which hadn't been on the road since 1996; the last two months of intense spannering will hopefully secure the car its first MoT in 16 years, just two months before the event. Ellis's car also was only returned to the road last year after spending the previous 25 years in a scrapyard with other cars piled on top of it! We are looking for corporate and individual sponsorship to help raise as much money as
possible for two charities close to our hearts, The Huntington's Disease Association and The Wroxham School, Potters Bar. One of the team (Matt Sutton) was diagnosed with Huntington's disease several years ago, a hereditary disorder of the central nervous system, causing debilitating symptoms. The Huntington's Disease Association supports people affected by the disease, their families affected by Huntington's and professionals involved in their care. The Wroxham School in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire is attended by both Charlie and Ellis's children. Moving from 'Special Measures' to Outstanding' in only 3 years, the Wroxham School features in the top 100 most improved schools. We would like to support the school in continuing it's innovative approach to teaching and learning by raising the necessary funding to achieve it's goals.

All corporate sponsors will have their logos on the cars and we would like to have all corporate sponsors confirmed by the end of August in order to get the cars stickered up in time to provide our sponsors with maximum exposure before the event.

The Ten Countries Run starts running from the UK to Calais on the Thursday morning driving through the night through France (including a drive around some of the Monaco GP circuit), and on to Italy through some gruelling Alpine passes. More driving through the Alps in Switzerland and Liechtenstein before turning towards home on Sunday through Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands to complete the ten countries. The event is organised by one of the most active car clubs in the UK, attaining a sizable amount of media coverage both local and national in the past, the sight of 80 Triumph cars going through the Alps does spark a fair bit of interest.

Please help us support these two worthwhile causes by signing up today.

Thank you for your time.
